Beautiful, I sometimes wish the ecstasy one first feels as one begins to know God would last forever. But I supposed it is akin to nostalgia for the innocence of childhood. One must grow up eventually, and if God is merciful, perhaps exchange innocence for wisdom.

Thanks for the likes and for the comment! I am happy to see that this post made you think of the ecstasy "one first feels as one begins to know God." Nicely expressed! I keep that mystical sense fresh through meditation and contemplative prayer as well as by reading classical mystical writings. One of my favorite spiritual books for over fifty years has been Thomas Merton's Contemplative Prayer.
